First Bangladeshi Satellite Gets Launched

It is indeed a historic day for Bangladesh and of-course every single Bangladeshis citizen has every reason to celebrate this great occasion. Today, first Bangladeshi satellite Bangabandhu-1 was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Using the Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket from SpaceX, Bangabandhu-1 started it’s journey for the geostationary slot located at the 119.1° east longitude at around 4:14 pm(EST).

It is important to know that this is a communication satellite which would help not only Bangladesh but also it’s neighboring countries to access a wide range of broadcast and communication services (Radio, Phone Services, Direct-to-Home TV & Internet).

Sitting at my office desk, this evening I waited and waited to see the launch event live from the SpaceX’s YouTube channel. Even though the originally scheduled launch event (yesterday) was scrapped at the last minute, I was hopeful to see the rocket going live today and luckily I was not disappointed. Like millions of people out there, I also witnessed a very emotional and historic moment for Bangladesh. Here is the full video of the launch event just in case if you have missed it.

Thank you.
