This morning when I was passing by my local Chinese grocery store, I thought to check out their fruits cart that are being displayed out side of the store. What grabbed my attention right away was a box full of Persimmons. These persimmons were ripen and was so bright in color, it is bound to grab your attention. Unless you know or tasted them before, you may not fall for it at first sight. They look very similar to "Tomato" but it tastes so much more sweeter than them.

As far as I know Persimmon is an Asian fruit that grows mostly in colder regions. Countries like China, Japan and Korea grows the highest number of them in the world. However, browsing through Wikipedia and other websites revealed that it also grows other countries like Brazil and Azerbaijan as well.
I am not going to talk about the nutritional value and stuff of that sort here because they are already available in Wikipedia and you can check them out if you want to. All I can tell you is this fruit is a great source of Vitamin C and others. Best part is, it tastes really good. To me, it tasted like ripen Papaya but a bit harder (lots of fiber) and definitely sweeter than them. If you want to check them out, go ahead and visit your local Asian groceries, chances are they have them in stock right now.
I am a huge Persimmon fan and I couldn't resist myself but to grab few of them right away to enjoy later at night. They were delicious.
