The man who has been credited with Inventing the email System as we all know it today, is no more. Ray Tomlinson passed away yesterday (March 5,2016) at the age of 74.
Ray Tomlinson Infront of @ Sign.
Ray was working on the idea of sending messages between two different network as sending messages between users within the same Network has already been introduced. He used “@” sign to separate users from their machines and was able to send messages. He invented the email system for ARPANET network back in 1971 and ever since it remained an important medium of communication.
Email has changed the way we communicate with each other for quite some time and there is no doubt in my mind that its going to be around for a very long time to come despite of all the modern technologies that we are using now a days. Unfortunately, I never knew or read about Ray before. I am dedicating this post to Ray Tomlinson for his extraordinary works. You will always be remembered as the “Email Man”, at least to me. Rest In Peace, Sir.
